Welcome to Crochet With Cookie – where I’ve got another free crochet ear warmer pattern for you!
Once again this pattern will be easy for any beginner crocheter to make, and only uses 3 of the most basic stitches!
This is another beginner- friendly, super easy pattern! Using only 3 stitches, the pattern works up in about 20-30 minutes!
I highly recommend using wool yarn, or at least a wool blend so that your crochet ear warmer can keep your ears as cozy as can be!
In this pattern I am also using a 6.5 mm crochet hook with super bulky yarn – the reason for this is to avoid any gaps between the stitches and make sure that your ear warmer will be nice and thick – for warmth.
My favorite yarn to use is either the Lion Brand – Wool Ease (which is a 20% Wool, 80% Acrylic Mix) or the Loops & Threads – Cozy Wool (50% wool, 50% Acrylic).
Materials and Required Stitches Needed for This Free Pattern:

Ear Warmer Pattern Instructions:
Row 1: Ch enough stitches so that when you wrap it around your head and stretch it a bit it reaches (for me it was 37 st).
Row 2: Ch 2, sc in the 3rd ch from the hook, sc across the entire row, ch 2, turn
Row 3: Hdc in next st (after the ch), repeat across the entire row, ch 2, turn
Row 4: Repeat row 3, 4 more times.
Row 5: Sc in the next st (after the ch), repeat across the entire row, leave a long tail, then cut your yarn
To Assemble:
- First, fold the panel in half, make sure the side that you want to be on the outside is facing outwards
- Then, line up the corner of one side, with the center of the other side, then fold the two flaps over (refer to the photos here).
- Then using a tapestry needle, sew to connect all the folded pieces.
- Sew across the whole folded edge two times.
- Then weave in the ends, and turn the headband right side out.
Your new ear warmer is all done!! Congratulations and enjoy having warm ears this winter 🙂
